Yesterday was actually deadline day, but because of the way TBAM is put together, yesterday is one of several deadline days. We're supposed to go to print this arvo, but the ad guys - who think just because they make a squillion dollars for the mag they can bung stuff in right up until it hits the press - are still sending raw copy for me to sub and tag with pics.
We're off on a dualsport shootout on Friday with five or six bikes (which need to be picked up and prepped), and the DR is sitting there with one handguard, because I need to bolt into the shop and sort out something with the mount. It also doesn't have a numberplate because I tore the last one off in an embarrassing episode.
The guys at the local Honda shop have the CRF, and they've just told me it's dead as a maggot because the the regulator's rooted. Chris Thomas is driving over from Wyandra on Friday to pick it up and do the engine, so I need to do something about that ace-pronto. It'll probably need a back wheel too, I guess. That's sitting in the van with the bearings and seals full of two-pack paint.
The XR is at the auto electrician having the lights wired so it'll make scrutineering. I'm searching for a pipe that will get the volume down below 94dB without killing the thing. FMF make one, but Casson's don't import it. If anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear them. I have 10 days until the next ORC rounds at Nowra. Looks like it'll be another muffler-packed-with-steel-wool scrutineering session.
I promised local rider Dan Ralph I'd have some pics and mags at his house by last Saturday, so I need to get that done.
Boris Everson was on the phone on Sunday reminding me that he and I are scheduled to shoot images and video of the XT660R he's building for Longest Day this year.
The motocross nationals were decided on Sunday at Coolum, and the ORC update is sitting here with a stack ofther news that needs to go on the website as soon as poss.
No wukkas.
It's all going smoothly.
Stupid cat!
