I won't be on the start line when the flag's dropped this week. and it's starting to feel as though I'm making excuses. First I missed Rounds One and Two of the AORCs due to injury, and now I'm bailling on the Four Day.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, especially when the folks at Team MSC Kawasaki have already built the KLX450 and are raring to go. And I'm busting to race the bike. Team Dynamite buddy Dan Ralph has left for Orange with the TBAM long-term test WR450F kitted out and raring to go, and it was no fun staying behind, I can tell you.
But whether I like it or not, it's done, and there's no point in fretting about it.
And I'm not alone. Stefan Merriman is out injured as well (I'm sure his presence will be missed a whole lot more than mine).
The payback is I'll have the coming week at my desk to try and sort out this website, and to get a good head start on issue #28. I haven't nailled down the content of the whole issue yet, but Steve Crombie's journey through India will continue, Husky's WR300 gets a guernsey, and we'll have a rundown on hot poop gear and tips for long-distance rides. The BMW GS Safari will be in as well, of course, and I'm working on something I think youse'll enjoy.
This website looks like being a bugger for me to work out. If youse want to give me a hand with it, jump on, try and log on to everything, and let me know what's a pain or not working, or a good thing. I tried to get a topic going in the forum today and couldn't work it out, but I'm not all that bright. If youse have a go and it works, let me know.
Why is the DR upside down and looking a little dismantled? It copped a drowning and I had to dry it out. The Postie copped a soaking as well, but I drained the carby, sprayed it with WD40, and the little ball-tearer fired up like a good'n. The DR takes a little more TLC.
Seeing as I'm at my desk all this week I may try for an update before next Monday.
See how we go.
