Another week of furious resting and I have to be honest, I've really had enough of sitting around trying to heal. I know it has to be done, but that doesn't make it easy to take.
As a result of all the sitting around I have time to get heaps of magazine done. Of course, because I can't go out and shoot photos or ride anything, I haven't a whole heap of magazine to work on. What a pain in the leg!
Actually, the SPOT Vs EPIRB piece is taking for-frigging-EVER, because every time I think I've covered it reasonably well, some other facet of distress beacons comes to light and I don't think it can be ignored. I spent a fair chunk of time whittling all the jibbering copy back to what I thought were the really salient points, and I still have a mountain of text. I'm only trying to offer information for readers to make an informed decision about which will give them the best benefit, not give a detailed analysis on how they work, for Dog's sake. It's complex, but, and there's a popular opinion which says, "Both! And make sure you carry a sat phone as well!"
Whatever.
Meanwhile, I see good mate - and owner/editor of TrailZone - Clubby, has joined the knee-trembler's club with a fall at the Vegas To Barstow in the US. At least he was doing something glamorous. As I understand it, he didn't need any hospital time, but his knee's in bad shape. I think I'd rather have a broken bone than a seriously damaged joint. Joints are buggers to heal. In any case, I hope he's back on a bike and roosting soon. I know how frustrating the whole exercise can be (and getting back from the US injured must've been a mission!). I wonder how long it'll be before Clubby's sporting a brand new pair of CTis.
I don't have a whole heap of news this week. I'm saddened to see there'll be no MSC/Kawasaki off-road team next year, but I'm ecstatic to see Josh Green has a ride in Europe. Awesome. I hope he whoops freckle.
I got roused on for not having pitchas on my blog, so here's a few. It's a quiz. If you name all nine correctly, I'll bestow the honour of Fellowship in the Brotherhood of the Jiggling Right Elbow, and put your name on the approprite honour list. There's something for everyone, easy, hard, old and new.
Enjoy.
