Another Monday half shot and I've done cock-all magazine again.
It's not so bad really, because issue #32 is written and the final art is being done, so I have a little time between looking at layouts to try and catch up on things. (That intro pic has nothing to do with issue #32, by the way. That's Paul Grant at the Coffs stadiumcross on Saturday. I got away without a pic last week and figured I shouldn't push my luck again this week).
First up I went to the local stadiumcross in Coffs for the first time over 10 years. For a club day, it's an event the local folks should be proud of. I hobbled around in the heat and snapped off a few blurry pics before deciding I couldn't hack it. Imagine how it was for the riders. Paul Grant, Brenden Harrison and Robbie Marshall entered the Pro Opens and looked superbly stylish. Dan Ralph entered on his YZ250 and looked glorious with the TBAM sticker kit he had made up. It's a pity I had such a crap day with the camera. I don't even have an excuse. I'd sent my new camera back to Canon and dragged out my EOS400D (a much cheaper, amateur model) which had served me so well in the past. Unfortunately, I didn't serve it well on Saturday. I have a few good images, though, and I'll tag a couple on here so's you can see how the racing looked.
Well done to Coffs club. With 312 entries, and a heap of them senior, I thought it was a good, gentle track and the event had good facilities.
The other thing I was able to catch up on was returning the 125SX to Ozzo. I'm not going to be able to ride it for several months, and he's agreed to thrash it about a bit when he has time, just to keep the oil circulating and so forth. He's good mate!
I'm taking a chance and putting a TM on the cover of the next issue. To be more accurate, I put Josh Green on the cover, and he's riding a TM. It's a two-stroke, too! Hooray!
It's got a headlight, but, so I hope the "no motocross" brigade don't get all uppity again.
The rest of the issue is the usual stuff, including a research piece on the difference between the SPOT tracker and an EPIRB. There's so much ill-informed twaddle being peddled on web sites I thought it worth sorting out.
The Honda Rider's Club has closed down this morning. I have to be honest and say I'm not surprised. Something's going on at Honda. I don't know what it is, but, like everyone else, I'll stay patient and I guess we'll eventually find out what it is. I've been a Honda fan for such a long time it's frustrating to see the marque apparently withdrawing into itself so much, but those of us who've been around a while have seen it before, and no doubt in time it'll all make sense and the Wing will again fly high.
I'm writing cliches now. That means it's time I got on with some other work.
