Yamaha Parts & Accessories Division would like to notify customers of a possible problem which Yamaha has found could occur with the 2010 YZ450F EFI Power Tuner, Yamaha Part Number: 33D-859C0-10.
In some cases, the battery cover's waterproof seal on the power tuner comes off, when removing the battery cover to install new batteries, potentially upsetting the seals waterproofing capabilities.
If you have purchased a Yamaha Genuine Power Tuner previous to January 2010, and are experiencing this problem, there is a very easy fix for this potential problem.
To rectify this, please visit your local selling Yamaha Dealer, and request the replacement seal, part number: 33D-859C6-09, which will be supplied to you free of charge by the dealer. In some cases you may have to wait a few days for your dealer to order in the seal if he has not got them in stock. The new seal has an improved adhesive.
YMA asks that you remove the old seal, and be sure to clean the old adhesive off for a clean surface before fitting the replacement seal.
Please note, this is not a recall, not all units have been affected with this problem, only customers who have experienced this problem when replacing their batteries need to replace this seal.
