Blood’s thicker than water but there will be no special favours or track hints going to
Husaberg rider
Geoff Braico, at this year’s
A4DE scheduled for
8-11 April at
Portland, (near Lithgow), even though his mum Lyn is event coordinator and father Rick is course coordinator.
Braico comments, “My parents have always been very supportive of my racing, and they will be backing me 100 percent going into this year’s A4DE, but they’re also very professional when it comes to their own roles with coordination of the A4DE, and make jokes at dinner time that they can’t reveal anything to me, but the joke is on me because they’re dead serious.
“I know the A4DE is a tough ride, and it really separates the men from the boys as the conditions are tough, but I’m looking forward to taking the Husaberg FE 570 through its paces on the mixed terrain. I’ll be riding in the E3 class again, and last year I placed 3rd in this class and 12th outright, so I’ll be looking to improve on those results at this year’s event.
“The rain has just started to come down in at Portland, allowing the dust to settle, so it will make for really interesting racing for all competitors.”
Joining Geoff Braico on the Husaberg team at the A4DE will be Wollongong rider,
Amiel Cavalier who will compete on board the Husaberg FE 450 in the E2 class. It will be Amiel’s first A4DE, and he’s just looking forward to get amongst it all.
“I was wrapped to be chosen to be one of the riders in the NSW Junior Trophy Team at this year’s A4DE, so not only will I be racing for my own personal Husaberg ride, but also a state team result, which is pretty exciting,” said Cavalier.
“There’s a pretty stacked field in this year’s A4DE, and the course is quite demanding with lots of ups and downs, but just from the tests I’ve walked to date it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Riders will compete in a total of eight special tests throughout the course of the event. Four of the tests are grass tracks and four are enduro tests, including a good mix of terrain with single track, forest roads, and technical but rideable sections.
