It's with a sad heart we report that one of Australia's greatest motocross riders Andrew "Sharkey" McFarlane passed away in a critical on-track incident at the third round of the 2010 Australian Motocross Championships at Broadford on Sunday May 2nd.
Sharkey was a former Australian Motocross and Supercross Champion. He also finished second in the World Motocross Championship, and had recently returned from racing in America to race the Australian scene before retiring. He is survived by his wife Natalie and young daughter.
It's hard to believe, and it just doesn't seem right, that Sharkey, one of the nicest guys and cleanest riders on the track has been taken away so close to his retirement, and after a stellar career.
On behave of TBAM and its readers we offer our condolences to the whole McFarlane family and to let you know we're all sending strength to help deal with losing one you love.
Rest In Peace Andrew McFarlane!
