IPAD Apps – The Future?
Technology is moving faster than ever, especially in the world of media. Information you get in magazines these days has to be timeless, because if it ain't no doubt you would have already read about it online visiting your favourite website or forum. Magazines more than ever have to work side by side with digital online platforms – magazine websites up to date with the latest news as it hits, also featuring the coolest videos, photos you can download for your desktop, interviews with the sports legends – you can virtually spend every waking minute exploring the black hole that is cyberspace.
And now Apple has released the Ipad, and other companies following suit, you can carry this black hole of limitless information around with you where ever you go and have instant access to it and a whole lot more. Leading the way with IPAD Apps in the sports lifestyle magazine sector – and showing a glimpse of where the future of magazine publishing is heading – is our brothers here at Morrison Media, Australia's Surfing Life. They have grabbed the bull by the horns and have produced IPAD Apps that can be bought and downloaded straight to your IPAD, and by all accounts their first one was very successful, with the boys explaining, "The Surfing Life app is not simply a digital edition of the magazine but rather a combination of the mag with rich media such as video and audio infused. Uptake of the first iPad app surpassed expectations, with over three hundred downloads in the first 24 hours and over three thousand downloads of the app to date, from all over the world. Results from a survey that was included in the first iPad app were extremely positive, with many readers unable to believe the high quality and clarity of photos and videos displayed on the iPad."
There'll be crew who will always like to hold a paper magazine in their hands, a media patform that doesn't require power to read it, or wireless internet to download it, but as technology continues to speed up is it only a matter of time before books and magazines are completely fased out and gadgets like Iphones and Ipads the only way we view media? What are your thoughts?
Check out this cool clip that gives you an insight of what you can expect from IPAD Apps now and into the future!
